The Optical Society of Southern California is pleased to announce presentations on optics projects by 4 Cal Poly Pomona students:

Chris Mendoza: “Image Analysis in IR Astronomy”

Nolan Johnson: “Broadband Multilayer Plasmonic Structures”

Jacob Taube: “Galileo’s Telescope”

Sevan Menachekanian: "Spatial Heterodyne Raman Spectrometers in Deep UV”

 
About our speakers: Chris Mendoza, Nolan Johnson, and Jacob Taube are final-year undergraduates in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
• Chris is presenting work begun in an observational astronomy class with Dr. Matt Povich, and continued as his senior project.
• Nolan is presenting work conducted in the research group of Dr. Ildar Salakhutdinov and Dr. Ertan Salik.
• Jacob is presenting his solution to the final project assignment in Dr. Alex Small’s Applied Optics class, a class that makes heavy use of Zemax.

Sevan Menachakanian is a Master’s student, splitting his time between the laboratory of Dr. Tim Corcoran in the Cal Poly Pomona Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and JPL.
